Running head: VACATION POLICY CHANGES FOR STAFF MEMBERS Vocation Policy Changes for Staff Members Willie J Grier Professor Lisa Teitler Effective Communication Skills (COM101033VA016-1174-001) 5 May 2017 1 VACATION POLICY CHANGES FOR STAFF MEMBERS 2 Subject: Vocation Policy Changes Dear staff members, Let me start by saluting and thanking you for your perfect contributions to this organization. The management and administration wish to announce the following changes concerning vacation. I hope you will kindly understand and consider them. The changes apply to all regular, full-time and part-time staff. The first change concerns vocational payment of the employees who have served less than a year in as from next month will get a paid vacation at the rate of a quarter of a week's salary for every full month of work. This is a change from the previous policy which granted this category of employees a half of a week's salary for every full month they had served. The second change on vocational policy is about awarding of a vocational period to employees which again will be subject to the number of years of service to the organization. Employees who have served for a period between one and three years will be awarded three weeks' vacation (an increase of one week from the previous two weeks' vacation). Employees who have served for between three and seven years will be awarded four weeks' vacation (an increase of one week from the previous three vacation weeks). Employees who have served more than seven years will be awarded five weeks' vacation (an increase of one week from the previous four weeks' vacation. The third change in vocational policy is about the scheduling of vacations which will from now be the responsibility of heads of each department who will ensure that each employee is awarded the vacation entitlements as outlined above and with consideration of staff preference, and efficient running of the department. All staff members are therefore required to submit their vacation preference periods at the beginning of each year to the department heads for early planning and preparation. Please kindly note that all the other vacation policy remains valid, apart from the above-stated changes. Very respectfully, Willie Grier
