Homelessness may be defined as states in which people do not have a permanent or stable place
to live. In many instances, these people who are homeless are not in a position to get a dwelling
place that is steadily secure. In the US, the term homelessness may be used to define the act of
spending a night or sleep in a place that is private or public which is not normally set for
accommodating human beings. Also in the United States, you find that many of these people
who are homeless live in tents, shanties or even motels.
Homelessness is a result of several factor which may be classified into; social, political and
economic factors. The following are the various causes of homelessness in the US:
1. Poverty- a number of people in the US are poor and therefore are in a position to afford to
get houses for them to dwell. Some of these people spend more than fifty percent of their
wages and income to acquire a place to dwell in. Because the finance they remain with is
little for survival and other day to day activities, they prefer to save that money for
obtaining a place to stay and instead in shanties or even in places that are normally not
used for human beings accommodation.
2. Unemployment- Some people in the US do not have jobs or even do tasks that enable
them earn income so as to sustain themselves. These people who are not employed do
not have enough finance to obtain or afford a place to dwell in and therefore they are
forced to stay in environments that do are not suitable for there well being. They do not
have permanent places to sleep.
3. Homelessness may also be as a result of sudden unexpected events which disturbs an
