After you read, answer these questions: 1. How does your experience in writing drafts compare to Anne Lamott's experience? Do you allow yourself the freedom of the "child's draft" and what does that phrase mean to you? Is there a particular "part" of a piece of writing that is more difficult than others for you to write? If so, do you tackle that part first or last, why? 2. Ann Lamott talks about dealing with the "voices in your head" during the writing process. What does she mean by this? Who are the voices in your head? Describe them in detail. Are they real people in your life (parents, teachers, friends, etc.), or are they a group made up of the real and imaginary? 3. Do these voices help or hinder your writing? Describe ways that your internal dialog helps your writing and the ways it disrupts your process. In your opinion, is it better to silence them, or to let them be heard?

be as good as you believe yourself to be finally. My experience so far has been somewhat similar
to Ann Lamott's, where I end up producing questionable material, writing things that do not
speak in their entirety about what I'm passionate about, all in the name of getting go...
