What is the molality of a solution of 10.0 g Ag(ClO3) in 201 g water?

Feb 3rd, 2015

molality = moles solute/kg solvent

10.0 g Ag(ClO3) in 201 g water

Ag(ClO3) is a solute

moles solute = mass solute / molecular weight solute

molecular weight of Ag(ClO3) = 108 + 35.5 + (16x3) = 191.5 g/mol

moles solute = 10 g / 191.5 g/mol = 0.052 moles

201 g of water = 0.201 kg

molality = 0.052 moles / 0.201 kg = 0.26 mol/kg
