Current Role in Youth Work
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is among the largest and most prominent youth
development organizations in America. BSA is value based and offers youth programs that help
build their character, train them with regards to responsibilities of citizenship participation and
development of personal fitness (Mechling, 2016). For over a century, BSA has been helpful in
creating future leaders. The organization combines educational activities with lifelong values
with activities that youth can engage in in fun. The belief in BSA, which is backed by years of
experience is that helping the youth is fundamental to building a society characterized by
conscientiousness, responsibility and productivity (Mechling, 2016).
