It’s simple to grab a bottle and go whether that he around the house or outside. I believe they are both safe options depending on how they are regulated and treated. A report by the the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California stated that over 200 thousand tests are performed annually to ensure the public’s safety. Every agency must go through those same regulations and according to the safe water drinking act- if there is a problem with the regions water supply, it is against federal law to not notify the public. Unfortunately, mistakes do happen, and we can see this when we review flint Michigan. The officials failed to apply the proper corrosive materials which caused lead to seep into the city’s water supply. It was advised by many local engineers that the city water was unsafe to drink. Many cities around the country had horrible experiences with lead being in their tap water. However, although water bottles have strict regulations that they must follow. those standards are set by the FDA. The biggest health issue regarding water bottles is it’s packing and shipping procedures. As a child, I drank tap water and did not pay attention to the taste, partly because that was all that I was accustomed to. Now, I will only drink tap water if I have to, meaning there is no bottled water nearby. I do not like the taste and sometimes the smell. . I remember visiting a small town in North Carolina for a couple of weeks and I could smell the water, it was awful! I would say that bottled water is safer due to the chances of it becoming contaminated is less likely compared to tap water. According to International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), tap water tends to become contaminated when a natural disaster strikes such as a hurricane, tornado, flooding, and fires or boil alerts. Although bottled water companies used the public water supply, there are several steps in during the process to ensure it meets the U.S Food and Drug Administration (PDA) purified water standard. I always knew that drinking water was extremely important for the body but I did not know all of the benefits that came with drinking it.
