Introduction
The significance of nursing in the healthcare industry cannot be underestimated.
Certainly, nurses are the backbone of the US healthcare industry, and it is the most tedious and
risk occupation across the world. The nurses receive training to help the specialists to offer their
care to the patient. Unlike the other practitioners in the healthcare industry, the nurses spend the
most time with the patients. In other words, the nurses create effective care for the patients to
recover. They provide mental, psychological, and physical care to the patients to promote their
recovery. The nurse leaders must remain a step ahead to promote collaboration with the nurses
to facilitate the achievement of the set goals. In the broader view, they direct and lead the nurses
on how to deliver quality, safe, culturally competent, and holistic care to the patient that aligns
with only organizational visions and goals but also commensurate with the established quality
standards in the entire healthcare system (Marshall, & Broome, 2017). Effective leadership
motivates the nursing practitioners to work and provide holistically to the patients and educate
the public about preventive care. Leadership involves coming up with a vision and influencing
other people to follow the laid down vision. Leaders are involved in providing the direction,
implementing a plan, and motivating the people they lead. Effective leadership plays a crucial
role in achieving organizational goals. In nursing, the management should adopt the right
leadership style to achieve organizational goals efficiently (Marshall & Broome, 2017).
Invariably, the nurse leaders should possess the transformational leadership skills to steer the
nursing department towards exceeding the organizational, community, and legal expectations.
