ARF is an abrupt reduction in glomerular filtration
rate characterized by an increase of blood urea
nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine.
It may result from :
- decrease in effective circulation
- renal cell injury
- arterial or venous obstruction
- obstruction to urine flow.
Commonest cause in children: dehydration
