History of the Civil War
The Civil War considered the central occurrence in the consciousness of America. The
United States was created during the American Revolution that was fought between 1776 and
1783. The Civil War is credited for determining the king of nation present day America would
be. There are two essential questions that were resolved by the Civil War. First, was the United
States going to be a dissolvable confederation made of sovereign states or would it be an
indivisible state that was governed by a sovereign government? Second, would the United States
that was created using declaration that all men had an equality to liberty would still continue
being the largest promoter of slavery across the world (Hummel 34). The victory of the
northerners brought an end to slavery that had caused division in the country and the United
States was preserved as a single nation.
Causes of the Civil War
There were different beliefs among the Northern and Southern sides of America. As the
North became an industrialized side, the Southern side remained as a predominantly agrarian
side. There were also different social, political and cultural differences. Disagreements ensured

on important issues like taxation, state vs federal rights and internal improvements. First, the
union was disrupted by the issue of slavery. The slavery dispute resulted into secession which
resulted into the Civil War fought by the Norther and Western states in a bid to preserve the
union. The South fought for independence of the Southern states (Miller 46). They wanted to be
recognized as a new confederate of states that was governed by a different constitution. The
South used slaves for agricultural production and other domestic duties. At the time of the War,
