Description

In this module, we’ve learned a great deal about Alexander the Great, his father, Philip II, and their accomplishments in spreading Greek culture and establishing an empire. The respect (and disdain) they both garnered from their contemporaries is well documented, and much of what we know about both men from historical scholarship focuses primarily on their rule. Because much of that scholarship rests upon the accomplishments and success both men enjoyed during their reign, for this discussion, ask yourself:

Between the two, who was the more successful ruler, Alexander the Great or his father, Philip II?

Your response must include:

  • at least three different rationale or criteria that you think are essential in determining which ruler was the most successful.
  • specific comparisons and examples that support your reasoning and describe why your chosen rationale supports your chosen leader as being more successful in comparison. This is what I have but second part needs more detail if someone can help me out.

Alexander the great was more successful ruler in comparison to his father Philip II because of the following list of accomplishments he achieved compared to his father.

Due to his military tactics, he grew the largest kingdom in his reign compared to his father. His tactics that he used were taken up by other commanders, and they used him as a measure to know their level of success. He won more battles and emerged victorious countless times more than Philip II.

He expanded the empire more regarding taking over empires compared to his father whose rate of expansion was less.He built cities and named them after himself something his father didn't achieve.

Alexander invaded and took over many empires, and other emperors wanted to be associated with him. They saw him as a role model. During his reign, the Greek culture was spread over the east, and his features were prominent in history, myths and traditions of both Greek and non-Greek culture (Golden). Compared to his father who was not able to reach as much success regarding spreading the Greek culture to other empires which ensured the success and better growth of the Roman Empire.
