1.5 (x+y)=255 (2)

Equation 1 could be simplified as x-y=150

Equation 2 could be simplified as x+y=170

The addition of the two equations above is 2x=320, x=160

Input x=160 to x-y=150, y=x-150=10

So average airspeed of the plane is 160 miles/hour, and the average windspeed is 10 miles/hour.
