Assignment 4: Persuasive Paper Part 2: Solution and Advantages Research and Writing Professor Danny Meadows Valeria Ortega During my research of “Should the regulations regarding the use of cellphones while driving be standardized?” I not only found useful insight as of how does this affect our states, but how this inconsistency can cause different accidents, deaths and setbacks for other drivers on the roads. Standardizing our regulations will help decrease the amount of accidents and fatalities caused by the use of a mobile devise while driving. In many instances, someone traveling from Ca. to Fl. they experience a big difference in laws and regulations between states. In Ca. they proactive hands free driving, while in FL there is no restrictions, though drivers are encouraged to not text and drive. If the government and the DNV department revised the standards and regulations, they could reeducate all drivers initially to ensure there is an understanding as of WHY are we making this drastic change for some states. Educating our community is the most important step to have a successful culture change. Sponsorships with celebrities can help drive the attention of the young crowd as they are the biggest violators and set a message out to the public. Also, re-enforcing driver’s education in all high schools across the country will help educate our future generations and this will result in a lower accident and death ratio. During the revision of these regulations and establishing a violation fee for each state, it is important to be consistent across each state. The penalty should be sustainable such as not completing a full stop, not using a seat belt as they are also linked into safety and preventing potential accidents. In many scenarios people my feel it is unfair, but realistically technology is very advanced allowing users to have hands free usage by using voice activating commands. The same goes with vehicle production, it has become more common to install smart packages for this same purpose. To avoid accidents and reeducate our communities. The reason why it is critical to have all states on board with this is because it is the right thing to do for our communities, families who travel back and forth and even teenager learning to drive they are all exposed to this huge danger. Distractions happen in seconds and they can be prevented. I am hopeful that in a near future we will see a change and more consistency on this matter. To know your patterns of grammar error will help you improve your writing. The Patterns of Grammar Error system uses the ten (10) most commonly occurring grammar errors that impact a reader’s ability to read a text. Ten Grammar Learning Modules have been created to help you understand these problems and learn to fix them. Here are the ten errors. They also appear on the Pattern of Error Log attached to the course guide: 1 2 3 End of Sentence Punctuation Verb Forms Verb Tense 6 7 8 4 5 Agreement of Subject and Verb Pronoun Form 9 10 Agreement of Pronoun with Antecedent When to Use and NOT to Use Apostrophes Using Quotation Marks for All Quoted Words Spelling Proper Sentence Sense After you submit your paper to your instructor, it will be turned back to you with comments and numbers. The numbers correspond to the 10 common grammar problems mentioned above. There will be a number above the underlined part of your sentence that has an error. For example, your paper might look like this: My Writing Experiences 2 1 I not been in school for twenty years and I do not like writing. My teachers always 9 1 9 marked up up my papers and I never new how to make them sound good. I know I won’t make them sound good now because I don’t know how to do it. I will have to work hard 1 to improve my writing I will have to write several drafts to do well in this class. As you can see, there are 6 errors here, but there are only 3 grammar problems (#1, #9, #2). When your paper is returned, you will count up the number of errors for each grammar problem and chart them on your Pattern of Error Log found in the Course Guide. Your next task is to review the Grammar Learning Modules for your most common Patterns of Error, and correct the mistakes in your paper. Learning your patterns of grammar error and fixing them will help you improve your writing.
