1. What is the UCR and why is it important when analyzing criminal behavior?
Uniform crime report (UCR), is a document in which official crime data that has been collected
is compiled in the United States. Due to this data crime statistics are compiled and published. It
acts as a tool to store different criminal information and hence all crime records classified in their
different categories can be retrieved. This helps the country to analyze crime with ease. UCR
helps in categorizing crime information and thus when analyzing crime behavior it saves time
since all the data of crime under investigation is obtained with ease (Adler, 1998). It also helps in
publishing the crime issues in United States crime series and people can get to understand
different crimes.
2. Describe Baumrind’s four different parenting styles. Which is preferred and why?
As outlined in different articles there are different parenting styles. Authoritarian parenting is a
style where a parent is very strict and he or she expects the child to follow rules with no
questions, as viewed baumrind this type of parenting lead to punishment and holding their love
back whenever the child is wrong. On the other hand, there is permissive parenting where the
parent isn’t strict at all. He or she is responsive to all children’s needs and no rules enforcement
or punishment. In addition, the parents seem not to be responsible as authority leaders since their
children grow in a very reluctant way with no rules (Hagan, 2011). Authoritative parenting,
however, combines expectation as well as warmth, this is because these parents might punish
their kids if they go wrong and in return discuss the punishment and ways to improve behavior.
Also, this parenting is more of communication and hence the most preferred.

This theory states that personality is biologically based and it has personal traits like extraversion
and neuroticism that can be measured using personality questionnaire. Extraversion is a situation
where different individuals have low or high surrounding stimulation (Hagan, 2011). The high
leveled people have an environmental stimulation which may result in criminal activities.
Neuroticism is viewed as the stability of personality and thus people who are volatile and more
reactive are likely to get involved in criminal activities. This because people with high-level
stimulation have more expectations as well a great excitement to achieve the best and hence they
may end up engaging in criminal activities by all means. However, those with a low level of
stimulation they take their time in all situations and hence making informed decisions in most
cases.
4. Explain the major environmental factors that impact the development of aggressive
behaviors.
The environment where children grow has a major influence on their behavior. Lack of security,
for instance, leads to the growth of aggressive behavior, this is because children in the near
vicinity will try by all means to gain skills for personal security and in return, they grow more
aggressive. Also, the degree of isolation leads to the development of aggressiveness since
children are curious to know what goes beyond their current environment (Regoli,...
