1 Expectations Of Course Arianna Moreno Purdue Global University MN553 Advanced Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics Deborah Adell August 31st, 2021 2 Expectations Of Course Q1. Based on my personal opinion as a medical practitioner, this course is very significant to my pharmacological knowledge and expertise due to its content that elaborates more on medicines, their side effects, target lab values, drug interactions, among others. Pharmacology is a section or branch of science or medicine that involves studying science and how it reacts with the body or its action on the living system. As a practitioner, through this course, I will gain more knowledge on issues relating to ethical practices, moral and legal obligations concerning the administration of drugs. Concerning pharmacology, I intend or anticipate gaining more understanding of the effectiveness and safety of individual medicine and different medicine categories recommended by the healthcare officials and professional bodies. I strongly believe that this course will advance my understanding of medication pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and advance my perception of emerging biological agents and new medications. This course is also very significant because it will enhance my understanding of the existing medicine and give me more experience and expertise in producing new drugs that can be used for treatment activities. I will also get to know or learn more about the physiology of the human body and how it can get impacted by different types of drugs. That is very significant as a medical practitioner, mostly when providing prescriptions to a patient. Healthcare education is one of the most considerable nursing interventions to patients; as a result, this course will make me more knowledgeable on pharmacology, thereby enhancing my role in educating patients on medications, dosages, and possible side effects. Q2. Relevant knowledge of pharmacology is very significant to both an advanced practice nurse (APN) and a registered nurse (RN). That is because it does enhance a better 3 understanding of human physiology and various factors relating to drugs like their use, discoveries, and even side effect. However, how an advanced practice nurse can use such knowledge is quite different from how a registered nurse can get used. As an advanced practice nurse, I will be able to use knowledge of pharmacology in the evaluation and application of various significant factors when prescribing appropriate medication to patients, something I cannot do as an RN. Such knowledge is also important in creating a patient care plan since I will have to consider various factors that relate to patient physiology and relevant drugs for a given health condition. Additionally, as an advanced practice nurse, I will use the knowledge of pharmacology when determining various medical-related issues such as bioavailability, metabolism, elimination, and therapeutic index, all of which are very significant in determining an optimum treatment plan for several patients. As a registered nurse, I will use the knowledge of pharmacology quite differently from the perspective of an APN. I will depend on it while delivering direct care to patients in different healthcare facilities and ensuring they get the right medication as prescribed by the APN. Additionally, as an RN, I will use the knowledge of pharmacology in providing appropriate medications are ordered, making a necessary evaluation on the test results, and offering health education to patients and their family members on the side effect of certain medicines and how to handle the symptoms generally. Q3. Based on my personal opinion concerning this particular course, I have many expectations on my advanced practice role, specifically as a prescriber. That is because I will be able to gain more knowledge that can assist me in carrying out the evaluation, diagnosis, and order diagnostic tests, according to the current Nurse practitioners in the United States District of Columbia and 22 states, that provides APN the opportunity to engage in full practice. Through 4 that right, as a prescriber, I also expect to gain the necessary knowledge through this course that will enable me to prescribe drugs effectively independently. Additionally, I expect to be more professional in drug prescription-related services that include adjunction of health/medical services, determining durable medical goods, and other equipment and supplies. I also expect to gain more knowledge on the patient treatment plan. I will be able to decide on the right medication for a given illness by considering the side effect of the drugs and providing patientrelevant healthcare education. Q4. Standards of care, also known as standards of practice, are very significant in healthcare practice in general since they provide appropriate guidelines that healthcare providers should adopt in their practices. It, therefore, plays an important role in the prescription process because the advanced practice nurse will have to act with lots of expertise and with their utmost professional capacity while prescribing drugs to patients. Standard of care also assist advanced practice nurse in designing the patient treatment plan since they will have to adopt the necessary ethical standard and principles like utilitarianism. Deviating from the required standard of care in prescribing process can result in certain legal implications and even loss of life to the patient. 5

Healthcare Law and Policy
Q1
Social Determinants of Health significantly affect healthcare institutions. According to
Sullivan (2019), current most urgent health issues, opioid addiction or unwanted pregnancies,
heart disease or cancer, gun violence or suicide, share risk factors. The groundwater approach
allegory helps in understanding SDOH shaping. One dead fish in a pond triggers the question
'what's wrong with this fish,' and it is examined to determine its cause of death. When multiple
fish are found dead in a pond, the question is 'what's wrong with this pond,' and when there are
dead fish in several ponds and lakes, 'is there something wrong with the ground water?' (Dave et
al., 2021). Groundwater represents the SDOH which consistently influences community health.
Hospitals have a role in addressing health disparities by using groundwater approaches.
Hospitals have economic and social power, which they can use to promote health equity. By
targeting the dispersion of the SDOH through interventions, health institutions can significantly
influence the social, political, and economic structural circumstances that result in health
inequities.
Hospitals' involvement with SDOH contributes greatly influences communities' health.
By solving the groundwater issues, health problems are bound to be minimal. Hospitals and
academic medical centers offer opportunities such as purchasing, investments, and hiring for
communities around them (Dave et al., 2021). Health institutions can harness the economic
power as a regional employer to support the local workforce. Providing opportunities for
marginalized populations by availing healthcare professions, hiring residents at a living wage,
and fostering career advancements ...
