Social Determinants of Health significantly affect healthcare institutions. According to
Sullivan (2019), current most urgent health issues, opioid addiction or unwanted pregnancies,
heart disease or cancer, gun violence or suicide, share risk factors. The groundwater approach
allegory helps in understanding SDOH shaping. One dead fish in a pond triggers the question
'what's wrong with this fish,' and it is examined to determine its cause of death. When multiple
fish are found dead in a pond, the question is 'what's wrong with this pond,' and when there are
dead fish in several ponds and lakes, 'is there something wrong with the ground water?' (Dave et
al., 2021). Groundwater represents the SDOH which consistently influences community health.
Hospitals have a role in addressing health disparities by using groundwater approaches.
Hospitals have economic and social power, which they can use to promote health equity. By
targeting the dispersion of the SDOH through interventions, health institutions can significantly
influence the social, political, and economic structural circumstances that result in health
inequities.
Hospitals' involvement with SDOH contributes greatly influences communities' health.
By solving the groundwater issues, health problems are bound to be minimal. Hospitals and
academic medical centers offer opportunities such as purchasing, investments, and hiring for
communities around them (Dave et al., 2021). Health institutions can harness the economic
