This is an individual project. You will select a country of your own choice with the permission from the instructor. You need to write a 10-page paper (not including the title page and references) with an APA References page and correct use of APA in-text citations. Draw on at least ten credible sources. The general formatting needs to follow standard APA style. The paper should focus on a country with special emphasis on cultural diversity and practices by applying using the contents in this course. A maximum of two students will be permitted to report on a country and approval will be on a first come, first approved basis. The topic submission link to request a country is on this page.
The 10 pages length requirement excludes the cover sheet, executive summary/abstract and references page(s). Plagiarism rules apply to the paper.
The paper should focus on the content discussed throughout the course and provided in the book/powerpoints. Some examples of what to include in the paper can be: a brief history of the country and educational facts (i.e. population, economy, language standards, religions, ethnicities, etc.); current events, leaders, business impacts and opportunities from a diversity perspective, tips for working and/or doing business (or simply traveling), etc. Also consider in your report how to survive from a multicultural perspective, differences in the culture, and intercultural negotiations/communications/opportunities.
Assume that you have been hired as a consultant. You are asked to prepare a report on the selected country’s background and more importantly to identify the cultural and business practices - what one should pay attention to and “do's” and “don'ts” and how effectively interact, negotiate and deal with the culture of that country. The paper will be judged on the basis of quality and the extent of analysis rather than pure description of the events and facts of the country. The attached rubric will be used to evaluate the paper.
