Ocean Electricity – 1. Choose 3 methods of deriving electricity from ocean power. 2. You MAY NOT use solar or wind. These must be methods derived from the ocean. 3. For each method, provide: a. A photo of the method b. A description of how the method works – a diagram helps here c. Where this method is used or proposed to be used. d. An explanation of why this area (from part "c") is a good spot for this method. 4. I would suggest one page for each method, remembering that you do have photos and diagrams. Do NOT try to hedge by making your photos huge. They should take up no more than about ½ of the page. 5. You may use information from the "waves" PowerPoint, but you may not use the same photos or diagrams. 6. You will be graded on the quality of your work. I will look at all the projects, decide which ones exhibit the highest standards, and will grade everyone relative to those standards. If you include all of the required information and make a good faith attempt at excellence you will be fine.

Methods of deriving electricity from ocean power
Oceans contain an enormous amount of energy which is stored in different forms in the
ocean. Falling and rising water in the ocean daily causes the water to be in motion, which is
informed of waves that make it easy to harness the energy. The idea of harnessing the ocean
waves (Budal & Falnes, 1974) to electricity from kinetic energy to energy in motion and later
converting it to electricity. Many ways are used to harness the electricity from the ocean, but the
commonly used method are the oscillating water columns, oscillating bodies and, overtopping
convertors. This method commonly depends on ocean factors like the depth of the water, water
density, and ocean topography.

This method uses half-submerged devices in the ocean to trap the air through the
turbines; this air is forced to move through the columns in a different direction, where this
movement forces the turbines to be in motion. These turbines are connected to a generator
which, through the movement of the turbines, produces electricity. Some technology is used to
design the turbines to always be in a movement of the same direction regardless of the di...
