I have been working for Ramada Salt Lake city Airport as a system analyst for Eight months
now. Our company is privately owned by “Sai Krupa” Hospitality. Ramada’s employee
handbook contains general statements of policy for our information. They contain policies and
guidelines for management, not promises of specific situations. When I read the employee
handbook my first day of work, I was surprised by many things like Vacation policy, Insurance
policy, etc.
Ramada owned by “Sai Krupa” Hospitality, does not offer any tuition reimbursement for
students. This is a privately owned property and that is why it does not offer any
reimbursements. They do offer bonuses but no reimbursements. Also, the company does not
offer any health insurance as well. Since this is a job where most people do not get effected by in
terms of health, our company decided to not give out any health insurance as it is not necessarily
required. The things that surprised me were the vacation policy. The policy states, “Only general
manager is entitled for a paid leave. This is something that surprised me because I personally
have not been exposed to such a situation of a similar job before. The other things I came across
in the employee handbook were mostly about handling crises situation and bar rules and
regulations as we have a bar on site. According to my knowledge, the company should focus
more on the new employee conduct section of the employee handbook. All the new employees
should read the handbook thoroughly, especially the part of dealing with crises situation,
reporting incidents to police and also the do’s and don’ts. I feel, for this company, the hospitality
business industry, implying the above mentioned situation would make a difference for the
employee satisfaction.
