environment where operations within a given institution can be effectively considered. Therefore,
it is the human resource to put in place better strategies that focus on ensuring that there is a better
employee engagement within an institution. Creating a better interaction between employees
within workplace creates a better environment where employees can communicate their issues and
the institution focus on ensuring that they solve these issues to improve employee engagement and
commitment within an institutional setting. The community States university has been having
significant challenges within its maintenance department where there have been high levels of
turnover and disciplinary issues. This means that there is a significant problem within the
department that needs to be effectively addressed before negative influencing the institutional
operations. Therefore, this paper provides significant analysis of the situation putting into
consideration better recruitment processes as well as a formal disciplinary model to address the
increased turnover and disciplinary issues in the maintenance department.
