Question Description

I have a 1998 Honda CRV with a 255,000 mileage in it. This weekend the transmission broke down. The engine is still running but the car is not moving. I took it to the nearest mechanic and they said that it will cost me over $2000 grand to replace a new one. What I want to know is;

Should I Just buy a new car instead? Or Just replace the transmission and save more money that way? Because I don't like having to pay monthly payments again but on the other hand how long would the new transmission last me? because I heard once the car reaches over 300,000 it basically starts braking down here and there.
