Description
It is fairly likely that you had heard the name "Mozart" before taking this class and probably had at least a vague idea of who he was, but it is much less likely that you had heard of Joseph Bologne, perhaps largely due to the color of his skin. In this discussion board, you will consider how and why some musicians have a lasting impact on their own society and societies of the future.
Respond to all four of the prompts below.
Number your responses to make it easier for the instructor to read and grade.
- Conduct some additional research about Mozart OR Bologne. Be sure to include the source(s) you used in your bibliography. Summarize your chosen composer's impact on the development of music and society during his lifetime. Answer the following question: what relevance, if any, does your chosen composer still have in our society today? Provide an example to support your answer.
- Choose a musical artist from today's world who you believe is a "modern-day" version of your chosen composer (Mozart or Bologne). Summarize your chosen modern musical artist's impact on the development of music and society, including at least one example of his/her music. Embed at least one example of your chosen artist's music by adding a live YouTube link.
- Compare and contrast your chosen modern musical artist's life and musical influence on society with that of your chosen Classical musical artist (Mozart or Bologne).
- Explain why you believe your chosen musical artist will still be relevant and/or worthy of being studied 100 years in the future. Your reasoning must be clearly supported by a minimum of two credible sources. Consider the cultural relevance and/or societal impact of your chosen artist in addition to their contributions to the musical world.

1. Although not commonly known to many, at least compared to Mozart, Joseph
Boulogne has significantly transformed the music industry. As a man of color, in an
age of humiliation and racial stereotypes, Boulogne recorded significant levels of
success musically through his concertos and symphonies concertantes (Saeed, 2021).
