Part 1
The first mission statement in the criminal justice comes from the Department of Justice
of the United States of America. It states that the mission of the DOJ is to both enforce the law of
the country and safeguard the legitimate interests of the USA. That includes responding to
domestic and foreign threats through the provision of leadership in the control and prevention of
crime. The mission statement further goes on to pledge just punishment of offenders and
impartiality in the administration of justice (DOJ, 2017). The mission statement fits snugly into
the structure of the organization as every function of the body deliberately to this end.
The purpose of the Supreme Court of America is to substantially occupy its position as
the apex court of the jurisdiction. The court’s mission statement holds that the duty of the court is
