INTRODUCTION:
There are many factors which affect the rate of reaction
Concentration of the reactant,
Temperature,
Surface area of reactant
pH of the solution and pressure in case of gases.
OBJECTIVE:
To find out the affect of these factors we will design an experiment.
EXPERIMENT:
Consider an experiment in which marble stones (calcium carbonate) reacts with acid in the
following reaction
CaCO3 +_ HCl --- CaCl2 + H2O + CO2
The rate of reaction is determined by the amount of CO2 which is produced during the reaction.
MATERILAS REQUIRED:
Marble stones, HCl solution, stop watch, lime water, pipette, tubes, mortar and pestle, water bath
Factor 1: Temperature
Step 1: first of all take the marble stones 20g.
Step 2: Put HCl solution 25ml on this solution at the room temperature (25C)
