Solve for x

(2/x+4) = (x-5/4x-3)

A.) What is the LARGER solution?

B.) What is the SMALLER solution?

Feb 15th, 2015

2/x+4) = (x-5/4x-3)

2(4x-3)=(x-5)(x+4)

8x-6=x^2-x-20

x^2-9x-14=0

So you need to use quadratic formula to calculate the solution

x=(9+/-sqrt(9^2+4*14))/2=(9+/- sqrt(137))/2=10.35 or -1.35
