Question description

Can someone please assist me with a 1 paragraph response to each of the following discussion articles:

1.)

An emerging technology that has the potential for ethical abuse and conflict would be social media. Social media is not necessarily technology but it is completely based off of technology and would be unable to work without technology. Conflict that comes from social media technology would be the rapid spread of unconfirmed information. Information today can reach the other side of the world with just a simple key stroke, click of a mouse, or even a simple submit button on a smartphone. The problem with this is that the information that is shared on social media is not always confirmed or even information that has supporting documents or evidence behind it. While reading the NPR ethics handbook I found a question that a person should ask themself before sharing on social media, " am I about to spread a thinly-sourced rumor or am I passing on valuable and credible (even if unverified) information in a transparent manner with appropriate caveats?" (Social Media, n.d.). This is a great question that should be asked before sharing anything you read on a social media site or app and even the internet. As social media and the technology that supports it advances and grows the amount of information shared will also grow whether or not it is true or false, supported or unsupported.

2.)

One technology that I could think of is the internet webcam. Programs like Skype and Face Time have allowed many people like myself to communicate with our friends and family across the world. As convenient and money saving these webcam can be, they can also affect our freedom of privacy. Hackers, or computer experiences users can easily connect and even turn on your webcam from anywhere and they can gain access to your privacy, watch you anytime of the day without your knowledge.

The following articles, please give your thoughts on the questions:

3.)

***List 3 or 4 questions about the customers that Myra, as manager of the business, would want to have answers to.  Label each question as to whether it is strategic or operational/tactical in nature.

Myra needs to ask her self what type of customers do she usually get and what type of services do they  request.  What are the busiest days and how flexible are the customers when they stop in the store.  How many are regular routine customers and how many are walk in customers. How many does she know that deal with social media and use hand held devices.  thees questions are considered strategic and operational because it allows Myra to get a better understanding of her business and what she needs to keep the customers happy and loyal customers.

***What data would you gather about the customers to be able to answer those questions?

Knowing whether they are 9-5 workers, students, location or closeness to the store and style of the person in regards to fashion, looks and personality.  Finding out if they have children who would also need her services and whether they have a lot of friends that they also shop with routinely.  Who use internet like twitter, face book and who often post real time updates and friendly forms of gossip.   Also collecting information can allow her to create a better schedule for work to avoid wasted time and overbooking customers.

***What would be the top two business benefits Myra could gain from this business intelligence?

Business benefits that Myra could gain is a stronger following of loyal customers, more variety for them to chose from and a better inventory and managerial minded business.

***What should she tell the customers about why she is collecting data about them?

The best answer for myra is to tell the customers the information she collects allows her to send out sails reminders, provide a forum for feed back and customer service surveys.  Allow customers to say what they dislike or like and have personnel information so she can make their service and customers feel more than an average customer.  To make them feel like family when they are there to remember them by name, maybe remember a few birthdays or have special personnel events recorded in her customer database.

4.)

As the UMUC Haircuts Case Study states, the owner has asked you to help her analyze her business and apply a technology- related solution to improve the operation of UMUC Haircuts. Before she expands her business, she wants to be comfortable that she will actually have customers. Use what you have learned to answer the following questions as they relate to UMUC Haircuts:

***List 3 or 4 questions about the customers that Myra, as manager of the business, would want to have answers to. Label each question as to whether it is strategic or operational/tactical in nature.

- What will make the salon more comfortable for your visits? (operational)

- When is the best time for you to come in for services? (operational)

- Would a permanent shampoo specialist benefit you? (operational)

- What products do you prefer? (strategic)

- Customer’s name, email address, and gender. (strategic and operational)

*** What data would you gather about the customers to be able to answer those questions?

I would ask them what they would like for the salon to have in order to make their visits more enjoyable in hopes of them becoming loyal customers.  To accommodate their work schedule, I would gather information on the best time for customers to come in for services. Knowing the customer’s gender will help when it comes to hiring employees.

*** What would be the top two business benefits Myra could gain from this business intelligence?

Knowing your customers and implementing their likes/dislikes will increase profits while; smartly staffing her business to keep the loyal customers coming back, but also attracting new customers.

***What should she tell the customers about why she is collecting data about them?

She should tell the customers that she is collecting data about them to better her salon and make their visit more pleasurable.
