1. Hively v. Ivy Tech Community College
In August, 2015, Kimberly Hively filed a lawsuit against Ivy Tech Community College
based in Indiana; her claim was that the institution violated the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act
by having sexually oriented discrimination against her (sex discrimination). Kimberly Hively
worked at Ivy Tech Community College for fourteen years, and she was discriminated from
getting promotions and employment in full time. Eventually, the schools dismissed her based on
the fact that she is a lesbian. The school managed to move the court trial to drop the claims; this
was based on the argument that the anti-gay discrimination is not under the Title VII (Hively v.
Ivy Tech Community College, 2016).
