We encounter discounts every day.Items in stores are discounted.Coupons and promotions are advertised in newspapers and online. It seems like everyone is hunting for bargains. But are all of these discounts a good thing?
Do you think that promotional discounts save you and your family money? Why or why not?
Take a look at what Dakota has to say on this topic:
Last week, my favorite store in the mall was advertising that all their sweaters were 70% off.
At first, I thought this was an incredible opportunity.I figured I should buy a lot of sweaters while they were at this low price. Then it occurred to me that I didn't really need any sweaters.I already had a lot of clothes.
I hadn't planned on buying any sweaters before I heard about this discount. So I realized that if I bought these discounted sweaters, I won't have that money to buy other things—things that I actually want or need.
I suppose that discounts can be good things sometimes, but sometimes theypersuade people to buy things they never really wanted to begin with.
Find an advertised discount somewhere and share it in a forum post.In your post, tell your opinion of the discount.Do you think that it is a good deal or not?Is this a discount you would choose to take advantage of?
