Introduction
The social disparity, also known as social inequality, describes of the presence of
different social groups that have access to varying shares of the benefits and resources the
society has to offer. In essence, the social disparity is the situation where a particular group of
people in the society has access to a limited share of resources, on average than other groups in
the same societal setting (Braveman et al. 2004). The social disparity is not necessarily
concerned with how well a group of people is doing, but rather, how well it is doing in respect to
others under similar conditions. Studies concerned with social inequality seek to understand how
and why this condition exists, and ways through which this situation can be solved. The social
disparity may arise from a number of factors, whether social or economic. More so, it may occur
in specific aspects of societal, such as public health. In this paper, the subject of social disparity
in the field of family health will be discussed.
