Description

A researcher must have a solid understanding of statistical analysis and possible statistical errors, both while designing his or her study and analyzing the data. With the understanding of possible errors, a researcher can take precautionary steps when designing his or her study to minimize or eliminate them. The researcher must know how to evaluate collected data with the most appropriate analysis tools.

Tasks:

Part I: Explain Statistical Errors

While designing a research study, it is vital to understand the different possible primary statistical errors and how to control or minimize them. In relation to this, respond to the following:

  • Summarize and explain the difference between type I and type II errors.
  • Discuss what connection they have with null and alternate hypotheses.

Part II: Determine Methods

  • For M7 Assignment 2 LASA, describe the agency, program, or department you will be using for your program evaluation proposal.
  • Describe the quantitative data that will need to be collected and which design will be used to collect this data.
  • Describe the qualitative data that will need to be collected and which design will be used to collect this data.
  • Part of M7 Assignment 2 LASA will be to describe your data analysis in detail. Your evaluation should be based on a mixed-method design, and you will need to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data. For Part II of this assignment, complete the following:
    • Determine the statistical test you will use to analyze the quantitative data.
    • Justify why this test(s) is a good fit for your analysis.
    • Explain the key components of this test(s).

Your final product will be a 3- to 4-page Microsoft Word document. Utilize two to three scholarly sources in your research.

Running head: NEEDS ASSESSMENT 1 Needs Assessment Oto Gordon Argosy University 6/7/17 NEEDS ASSESSMENT 2 Needs assessment For this exercise, Group counseling has been identified as the basis of the M7 assignment 2 LASA. In most of the societies in America, a lot of individuals are undergoing challenges that could easily be addressed by conducting group counseling. Group counseling is a situation in which persons with similar problems in the communities come together under the guidance of a counselor who has been sufficiently trained to handle such problems (Hansson et al, 2008). The fundamental idea of group counseling is that when individuals who are having similar problems are brought together, it is easy to initiate a standard approach to sort out their problems. The organization context and the mission of the program As indicated in the opening statements above, there are many social and mental problems that persons share in the communities. One of the problems that various individuals are struggling with includes drug abuse. The mission of this program is to find the most suitable approaches to handling the problem of drug addictions in the communities. Of primary interest is to help people overcome the addiction to alcohol. The purpose of the needs assessment The underlying objective of the program is to alleviate the sufferings that individuals go through with regards to overuse of substances. Families have been destroyed by this problem and time has come to take a decisive action against the problem. There is a need to save marriages and return the societies to the tranquility that has been destroyed by the problem. NEEDS ASSESSMENT 3 The targeted population The program targets those members of the society that are addicted to substances especially alcohol. The program aims at making sure that it helps alcohol users through the challenges that arise from the overconsumption of alcoholic beverages. The stakeholders to be included in the assessment Many people have interests in this program and therefore need to be included in the entire program. Some of the stakeholders involved contain the local administration authorities, the community-based organizations, professions, opinion leaders and the drug addicts. The stakeholders would have roles to play at different stages of the program. The steps to conduct the needs assessment There are systematic processes that must be followed in the course of helping alcohol addicts in the communities. The following is an analysis of some of the steps that would have to be followed in the execution of a needs assessment program. The essential needs of the population The most critical needs of the targeted population include the immediate address to some of the physical health issues that have been caused by the overreliance on alcohol. In some circumstances, alcohol users develop some medical conditions that must be addressed as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the body. That would include the treatment of the liver if it could have been destroyed by the overuse of the substance. NEEDS ASSESSMENT 4 The need that is most important to the sponsoring agency There is one particular need with which the sponsoring agency would concern itself. That is a relapse in the recovery lane. In some sad instances, individuals who are on an important recovery Lane find themselves going back to the consumption of these harmful substances. It is always painful to witness and the individual who was recovering from alcoholism return to the old eating habits. It is a critical need in which the sponsors would be interested. The manner in which conflicting indicators would be integrated In the assessment process, conflicting issues may arise. It is necessary to develop a strategy that would be used by the program initiators to handle or minimize the effects of these conflicts. One of the ways of integrating these conflicts is to carry out tests on what indicators would deliver the required objective (Koutra et al, 2010). If there is one particular issue that is likely to give the best result that is what would be used. Besides, consultation would prove critical in solving the conflicts. The kind of data to be collected Qualitative data would be used in conducting the needs assessment. The process includes the examination of various publications on the issue at hand and evaluating the strategies that have always delivered success in the program. Numerous peer-reviewed articles have been written by highly qualified personnel, and that would be critical in the whole process. The data collection techniques; Due to the nature of the data being sought in the whole exercise, documents and records would be the data collection methods to be used. Most of the information being sought is available in multiple documents in various resource centers. NEEDS ASSESSMENT 5 References Hansson, M., Bodlund, O., & Chotai, J. (2008).
