has its focus on initiatives which support healthy living as well as enhancing economic

Human Resource Management within Coca-Cola
Human resource management is a crucial part of any organization since the organization’s future
is dependent on this step. Leading organizations such as Coca-Cola recognize that employees
play a very vital role in organizational growth. It is for this reason that they emphasize on hiring,
motivating, developing and retaining the best of human capital that they can have. Coca-Cola
requires employees who are ambitious, highly experienced and skilled who can think
strategically and propel the organization towards achieving its goals. Acquiring this level of
qualified personnel, therefore, is reliant on a sound recruitment procedure (Stone, 2013).
Recruitment
The hiring process at Coca-Cola begins with an analysis and design of the task or job at hand.
Job analysis and design are significant in that it helps in determining the skills and experience
which are required. The organization then designates a concise job specification and description
for all the jobs that are necessary. This information plays a critical role in the hiring process of
the firm (Coke, 2011). The process is both internal and external in that the advertisement for the
recruitment and places them on various mass communication mediums such as in public areas,
magazines, newspapers as well as the firm’s website. After applicants receive the applications
and have the relevant document, they are then called in for interviews which implement various
exercises such as group and situational exercises as well as psychometric and role tests. The role
tests help in evaluating how the individual would react to different work situations. During the
process, interviewees get to learn about the various requirements they should meet while the HR

persons also get to know about their experiences. These exercises help the firm in choosing the
most suitable candidates for the various jobs. The firm also retains the documents of candidates
who do not pass the interviews so that they are recalled whenever opportunities which meet their
skills come up (Adeyemi & Salami, 2010).
Training and Development
The qualified candidates then undergo training which is meant to teach them how work
and tasks are carried out in the firm. This is helpful in that it helps them transition from what
they were used to in their previous places of work and adapt to Coca-Cola’s culture. During this
process, the company encourages employee motivation and equality. The company also makes
the candidates familiar with machinery that they will be using (Mohamed & Omwenga, 2015). This
helps to reduce errors during practice as well as injuries which may arise from misuse thus
increasing efficiency in the workplace. Training and development are done at the firm’s cost
where the employees are also remunerated for the three months which the tasks take place
Cultural Issues
The cultural perspective of the Coca-Cola Company can be seen from the very start of the
employees’ experiences in the firm. The firm values the employees’ input in the development
and productivity and thus ensures that employees are motivated. The company ensures that
employees are adequately trained before they officially begin working. In the training of
employees, for example, the firm takes four approaches. The first is by ensuring that employees
are taught about how the company operates while ensuring that they have the skills required in
presentation, sales and public speaking (Karnani, 2014). This not only increases job satisfaction
among employees but also creates an environment where job satisfaction is achieved. The firm

also ensures that the employees are technically trained such that they are, prepared for future
advancement and promotions. The company also adheres to leadership training, which equips
incumbent leaders with the necessary skills to ensure effective leadership. This also helps in
preparing ordinary employees for leadership and management opportunities in the future. The
company also partners with learning institutions to carry out functional training (Karnani, 2014).
