DESTINATION CITY PROPOSAL 1 Destination City Proposal- Part 1 Yamilette Albertson HUM/370 Jun 12, 2017 Glenn Bisbing DESTINATION CITY PROPOSAL Destination City Proposal Thesis Statement: an analysis of the city of Las Vegas in details, in terms of business opportunities in the hospitality sector, proved fruitful due to the city’s numerous activities that take place twenty-four hours a day. The city is a very good destination for any businessperson that is planning to expand his/her operations. The details are discussed in the proposal. I. II. Introduction Existing hospitality industry in Las Vegas III. Suitable hotels to develop, key departments and functions befitting local market IV. Hospitality management V. VI. Characteristics of leadership to consider when staffing Conclusion 2 DESTINATION CITY PROPOSAL 3 Introduction Las Vegas is one of the most vibrant cities in the United States of America. The city attracts very many tourists from all over the world yearly because of its vibrancy, unique facilities, and other significant attractions. Being that Las Vegas is one of the most visited cities in the world, it is very necessary for the level of hospitality and the number of facilities that offer excellent hospitality services to be very high. Research that I conducted on the city’s layout and using demographics revealed that Las Vegas is indeed a city worth investing on by hospitality investors. Existing Hospitality Industry in Las Vegas Currently, there are a lot of businesses in the hospitality industry that is present in the city. There are several hotels some of which are known worldwide such as Stratosphere Hotel, the Mandalay Bay, The Mirage Hotel and Bellagio Las Vegas. These are some of the fancy hotels that host the tourists who travel from all corners of the world so as to tour the city in the desert. Apart from the luxurious hotels, there are also modern resorts in the city such as Flamingo, Mirage, MGM Grand and Paris Las Vegas. These resorts are very much exciting and entertaining (Gray & DeFilippis, 2015). They have quite elaborate displays such as fountains that have been synchronized to music, Venetian Grand Canal and replicas of the Egyptian pyramids. In short, the city is one of the few resort destinations in the world. Furthermore, there are nice restaurants, amazing bars and other attractions with state-of-the- art facilities. Suitable Hotels to Develop, Key Departments and Functions Befitting Local Market The kinds of hotels to develop in the city of Las Vegas should have world class facilities that are offering extremely wonderful dining to the customers. These hotels should also be nicely decorated both in the interior and exterior so as to present a good appeal to the customers. DESTINATION CITY PROPOSAL 4 Resorts are also some of the best business investments that can work in Las Vegas. One fine thing about resorts is that they have quite many recreational activities and hence are frequented by so many people. It is critical to note that resorts and hotels that I would suggest are the ones that include lodging facilities, food, drinks, entertainment and shopping centers. Some of the key departments that would be suitable for hotels in the local market include recreation, environment management to care for the surrounding, customer care to tend to customer queries, technological department to help in managing online bookings and human resource to hire the best employees. Aside from that, there are also some functions that are better if incorporated. Such functions include online reservations, the point of sale services, efficient housekeeping, online booking of hotels and customer relations. Hospitality Management Hospitality Management is a program that deals with accommodation of clients in the best way possible. It is simple hotel management and hotel administration. For hospitality management to be successful, the attendants at a hotel or resort should possess the necessary skills food and beverages, service techniques, financial accounting, economics and also written communication (Boella, 2017). Hospitality management is not only necessary in hotels and resorts but also in restaurants, cruise ships, amusement parks and in bars. It controls or governs the crucial relationship between a guest and a host. Some of the main features of leadership that should be considered when recruiting new staff include honesty, powerful communication skills, strong commitment, confidence, positive attitude and high levels of creativity. Any employee that possesses such traits is likely to be a good staff member who can not only contribute positively to the development of the organization but also be committed to it at all times. DESTINATION CITY PROPOSAL 5 Conclusion If there is an investment in the hospitality industry that is worth making then Las Vegas is the place to carry it out on. The place is so vibrant and full of people who need nice accommodation. There is no doubt that a wise investment that is well thought through and researched would highly succeed in Las Vegas. MANAGEMENT OF HOTEL RESTAURANTS AND BARS Destination City Proposal- Part II Yamilette Albertson HUM/370 Jun 19, 2017 Glenn Bisbing 1 MANAGEMENT OF HOTEL RESTAURANTS AND BARS 2 Management of Hotel Restaurants and Bars Thesis statement: There are some key factors that should be considered when managing restaurants and bars which are very critical in the overall success of these businesses as discussed in the proposal. I. II. Introduction Key management functions and responsibilities in restaurants and bars III. Regulatory and licensing requirements associated with alcohol sales IV. Assessment of managed services for clients in Las Vegas V. Conclusion MANAGEMENT OF HOTEL RESTAURANTS AND BARS 3 Introduction For a hotel restaurant or a bar to run effectively, there must be some key considerations that have been put in place so as to see through the management of such premises. The hotel restaurants and bars that are in the city of Las Vegas have exemplary strategies and planning that have been laid out. There are some characteristics of the hospitality industry such as obligation and integrities that contribute greatly to the end result of these businesses. In the city of Las Vegas, there are primary licensing requirements that are associated with the sale of alcoholic drinks. Furthermore, this proposal gives an insightful review of an assessment of managed services in the local market of Las Vegas. Key Management Functions and Responsibilities in Restaurants and Bars Some of the key management functions and responsibilities within a restaurant or a bar include recruiting, the formal steps of training and supervision of the staff members (Singh and Dewan, 2009). In recruiting members, an organization is required to hire staffs that are able to critically analyze situations and makes informed and wise decisions. Other key management functions and responsibilities also involve the processes of proper preparations and management of budgets. The management of any restaurant or bar would ensure that there is compliance with the licensing terms according to the relevant laws or legislations. A business that ignores the licensing policies and terms is likely to fail because it may risk being shut down by the authorities if it comes to their attention. Furthermore, it is fundamental for responsibilities such as promoting and marketing businesses, solving problems and keeping essential statistical information to be taken into consideration as they ensure the process of managing the business is in order. MANAGEMENT OF HOTEL RESTAURANTS AND BARS 4 Regulatory and Licensing Requirements Associated with Alcohol Sales In the city of Las Vegas, there are a number of laws that have been debated and enacted by the relevant legislative authorities so as to regulate the sales of alcoholic beverages in the city and to make sure that there is compliance with the current authorizing requirements. First of all, it is a fundamental requirement that alcoholic beverages be sold strictly to adults only. Las Vegas is believed to have a bit loose regulations as compared to other cities of other states. It is a rule that drinking should never be carried out within a thousand feet of a church or even a public and private school. There is also a regulatory requirement that is dubbed as the Container law. It states that whenever a consumer buys liquor in a closed container then he should not consume it on the premises or within a thousand feet of the place (Singh and Dewan, 2009). Furthermore, there is a licensing requirement that allows for the transfer of a license to include the transfer of all privileges allowed and the responsibilities required under such terms. It is worth noting that there are certain aspects that need special consideration such as liability and ethics. The rules stipulate clearly how in case there is a liability, the person who is wronged can be compensated by the one who causes the liability. Such terms are crucial when included in the regulatory requirements so as to ensure orderliness. It is wise too to make sure that the ethical issues are well considered. Assessment of Managed Services for Clients in Las Vegas A deep study of how services in Las Vegas such as airport services, hotels, and schools are managed reveals the true ingredients required for success in the hospitality industry. For a majority of airports in the city, the high level of coordination and fast service delivery is impressive. In many hotels, there are automated services such as booking which ensures that the customers do not waste lots of time by doing it physically. The assessment also revealed that some of the obvious MANAGEMENT OF HOTEL RESTAURANTS AND BARS 5 reasons behind the successes of many hotels in the city are attributed to factors such as attractive settings, the hiring of committed staff, great emphasis on guest satisfaction, partnering with other local businesses and using effective marketing strategies. In other managed services such as school, effective coordination, quality research, and world-class programs stand out as the best prerequisites for successful achievements (Singh and Dewan, 2009). Conclusion This research has revealed a variety of the key management functions and responsibilities in bars and hotels. The details provide avenues that any hotel, bar, restaurant or any institution that provides hospitality may pursue so as to push its profit margins to a new level. An observance of the regulatory laws and licensing is also one other key factor that is important for the industry. MANAGEMENT OF HOTEL RESTAURANTS AND BARS Reference Singh, U. K., & Dewan, J. M.
