Introduction
Processing evidence is in crime scenes is a very significant process. Processing scenes are
the act of examining, checking, taking pictures, writing roughly and using all the methods and
techniques to summarize, evaluate, document and collect both tangible and non-tangible data to
be used as evidence (D. R. (2012)). Fire scenes and explosive scenes are both crime and tragic
scenes that require sufficient evidence to establish their main courses. In my essay am going to
elaborate both the similarities and differences of processing evidence in a fire seen and explosive
incident scenes.
Similarities
The first step is usually arriving at the incident scene. During this step, there are various
similarities between the two scenes. One, the respondent should observe and evaluate the site in
both cases. Two, he/she should exercise some caution or practice safety of the scene. Three he
should ensure the place is safe and controlled by requesting assistance from the respondents.
Lastly, they should conduct activities of saving lives and preserve any available evidence.
The second process involves evaluating the scene, (Suleiman, M. (2012)) in this process,
the investigator should practice the following events. Ensure scene security, draw boundaries,
question the witnesses, identify the materials required and lastly walk around the scene. In the
second step, the process followed is similar in both incident scenes.
The third step followed in both scenes is the documentation of the scene. In this process,
the investigator in both cases is required to take pictures, record videos, write down answers

from witnesses and also develop a written documentation. After documenting the received data
should be kept safely.
The fourth step is where we have both the differences and similarities. This step involves
first identify, assemble, and keep evidence (Beveridge (2011)). Here you take evidence from the
areas where the fire and explosion originated. Secondly, you make sure the evidence is protected
from contamination. It is done by making sure entry to the scene is controlled, wearing of
protecting gears, use cleaned materials, etc. Thirdly the investigator should pack and transport
the evidence. He should ensure he handles proof with care. Lastly, the investigator ensures he/
she keeps and establish the chain of custody. He should maintain records, documents, videos and
write down all transfers.
The last step that is followed is completing the whole investigation process. In these
process, the investigator is supposed to set the scene free and ensure he gives reports and
findings to the appropriate institutions for further action.
Differences.
On the other hand, investigations on fire and explosion scenes are different. They are
distinct according to forensic science. The nature of activities is therefore sometimes different.
When dealing with both, you have to take into consideration the health and safety issues. The
differences are brought by the particular characteristics of ...
