Description

Description of the Assignment

An annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of information sources (such as journal articles), formatted like a bibliography or a reference list, accompanied by a commentary, or annotation, for each source. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to learn about a topic through a critical review of literature and encourage a deeper engagement with literature to develop analytical skills

This assignment presents a method for examining several theories important and useful to the nurse practitioner role.

PREPARING THE ASSIGNMENT

  1. For this assignment, choose from the theories/models presented in the weekly lesson.
    • Health Belief Model
    • Transtheoretical Model of Behavioral Change
    • Social Cognitive Theory
    • Family Systems Theory
    • Family Assessment and Intervention Model
    • Praxis Theory of Suffering
  2. Search the library for literature. Locate 5 (five) articles related to the selected theories. You may use no more than two articles related to each theory/model.
    • Sources should be related to nursing practice using the selected theory/model.
    • Sources should be scholarly, relevant to the theory/model and to nursing, and published within the past 5 years. If source is older than 5 years, instructor permission should be obtained and the historical significance of the article should be explained.
  3. Prepare an annotated entry for each source. Begin with the full APA citation of the source, followed by 2-3 paragraphs:
    • Summarize the article.
    • Describe how the article relates to the chosen theory/model.
    • Reflect on how the article could (or could not) be relevant to future Nurse Practitioner practice.

Health belief model
Wong, L. P., Alias, H., Wong, P. F., Lee, H. Y., & AbuBakar, S. (2020). The use of the health
belief model to assess predictors of intent to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and
willingness to pay. Human vaccines & immunotherapeutics, 16(9), 2204-2214.
The article is based on how the health belief model was used in assessing the people's
willingness to pay and the intent of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine against the
SARS-CoV-2 was being worked on, and the public availability and acceptability of the vaccine
had to be prepared. The data collection method was a cross-sectional survey, which was conducted
from 3rd to 12th April 2020. The health belief model was used to assess the predictors of their
willingness to pay and the intent to receive the vaccine. The total responses received were onethousand, one-hundred, and fifty-nine. 48.2 percent reported a definite intent to receive the
vaccine, 29.8 percent reported a probable intent, and 16.3 percent reported a possible intent. The
reasons for the people to be willing to be vaccinated include; decreasing the chance of infection
and making them feel less worried. There was a higher marginal willingness to pay for the vaccine,
influenced by socioeconomic factors and affordability barriers. The study concludes that the
findings demonstrated that the health belief model's utility is effective in understanding the
COVID-19 vaccination intention and willingness to pay (Wong et al., 2020).
The health belief model suggests that their belief influences an individual's likelihood to
adopt a behavior in a personal threat of a disease or an illness and their belief in the effectiveness
o the recommended health action or behavior. The article relates to the model as it addresses the
behavior of people's intention of getting vaccinated and willingness to pay for it. Vaccination

against Covid-19 is the recommended health action in this case. The effectiveness is decreasing
the chance of infection and making them feel less worried about the virus.
The article will be relevant to future nurse practitioners as they will know the possible
