DB 1. What aspects of the UN Declaration of Human Rights are unrealistic today?
Millennium Development Goals (MGDs) were majorly as a result of forecasting a
process that is critical in setting realistic development targets. From my understanding, the
Millennium Development Goals were aimed to reduce the child mortality by approximately twothirds, to provide universal primary education as well as reducing the extreme poverty by 2015
by half. The goals were set in order for the world to be ambitious other than realistic.
To begin with, these goals had to account for various differences that are experienced
between countries as well as continents. The current MGDs had no provisions for this
differentiation and hence unrealistic. The main reason why all the eight MGDs are unrealistic is
due to the fact that they are correlated with each other. This means that, if one MGD is not
successful, it will cause the other one to stall. As an example, lifting individuals out of extreme
poverty provides expects immediate health standards improvements. We also have contradicting
MGDs such as investing much in fossil fuel power plants with an aim of reducing poverty from a
low immediate cost, but on the other hand we compromise the environment through pollution
from the use of fossils fuels (Mishra, 2004).
MGDs indicators are useful to track our progress, but on individual country basis not
globally. This is also due to the fact that each country has its own challenges to the success of the
MGDs while others have favoring conditions. The setting of arbitrary numbers for measuring
MGDs cannot possibly account for various real world logistics and complexities McKinsey &
Company forecasted in 1980 that United States would have about 900,000 mobile phones by the
year 2000, contrary to this, in 1987 the reality was that the actual number of mobile phones in

2000 was over 100 million in US (Moss, 2010). This means that mere numbers are irrelevant in
MGDs indicators.

DB 2. Are the best places to work the most profitable? Are they the most ethical?
The best places to work are not the most profitable. These are places that are equipped
with ethical egoism. Ethical Egoism is a natural phenomenon of the human being since our
actions are well influenced by the desire of self-interest. We analyzed the situation first and think
that whether the outcomes of the decision which are taken by us are in our favor or not. There is
only one way for taking the impartial decision within the large corporation for overcoming the
fact of human selfishness is that it should be reviewed by the different persons and the
consultation can also be taken by a third party for taking the impartial decision in favor of
company (Jennings, Marianne 2017).
Besides it, there should be continuously behavioral training program for the senior
authority that can influence them to take decision in favor of company and the employees over

them. Behavioral training programs will help them in changing their attitude, perception
behavior and it will encourage them to work for the organization without any selfishness.
Yes, it is true that I am also a normal human being who thinks first about me over other
person. But as per my ethics and values, I never want to hurt anyone by my decision or act. So I
always keep the need and requirement of others also in my mind while taking the decisions.
I have worked for one manufacturing company where I noticed that ethical egoism is the
very common at the workplace and the importance of ethical values have second place in the
heart of the people. First they always think about themselves over the ethical and moral values.
For example – if they are working in a team and they have to compete with other team. They will
do everything to prove themselves as the best team or person by doing anything over their ethical
and moral values.

DB 3. Complete self-assessment 10.1 on diversity perception on p. 407. How can you
realistically improve your personal or organizational score?
The main idea of personal and professional development is continuously changing. In order to
apply personal and professional development ideas most of the organizations looks for new and
changeable scheme. In order to execute the personal/professional development plans that we often face,

there are two major issues concerning implementation and support. Primarily when a plan is considered to
be executed it requires huge efforts of communication. Secondly, self-managed learning in employees
needs support in thinking their own judgment (Ferguson, 2007).

For one to be successful in both professional and personal life, one needs to have a proper
planning in relation to their identified goals or needs. Regarding future development, one must
establish an effective planning and place it in the right place. It is the expectations that every
person shall expand their knowledge and abilities in all spheres of life with the changing times
(Powers, 2015). These stages are analyzed below

SWOT analysis this is tool for self-monitoring which identifies ones strengths,
