NATURE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP WITHIN METRO HOUSTON.
Entrepreneurship refers to setting up businesses or just a business and thus taking all
the financial risks involved in the process with the sole hope that one would make profits
(Dollinger, 2008). Thus, entrepreneurship has various characteristics and takes various
natures. Entrepreneurship may thus take the nature of baring risks, creative activity,
innovative nature, being environment-oriented, being universal, being motivational, or just
the nature of creating resources (Radović-Marković, 2012). Metro Houston thus takes various
natures in its different entrepreneurial sectors.
Metro Houston has significantly invested in the public transport industry. This
includes both road and railway transport in Houston city. However, like it is well known,
public road transportation is often a risky area to invest in. this is because many challenges
are associated with road transportation. One of these significant challenges is the frequent
occurrence of road accidents (van SCHAGEN, 200). Road accidents occur regularly in major
cities and all other areas worldwide. Thus, if one chooses to invest in road transport, then
they should be mentally prepared that accidents are bound to happen at some point.
Similarly, road transport faces the constant threat of carjackers. Some people have
developed the habit of carjacking public vehicles to steal wealth from innocent passengers,
which makes public road transport extremely risky.
Another big challenge is the risk of depreciation (van SCHAGEN, 2000). Vehicles are
artificial resources, and thus, they usually have a lifespan. Sometimes, it is possible to buy a
vehicle today, and tomorrow it has developed mechanical problems; thus, it needs a checkup.
This creates a significant threat to metro Houston since sometimes they are forced to suspend
some of their operations prematurely in some routes due to unexpected mechanical problems.

3
This hence proves that the nature of entrepreneurship of Metro Houston in the public road
transport industry is risk-taking. This is simply because they decide to invest in this sector
despite the numerous threats like carjacking, premature mechanical problems, and frequent
road accidents. Metro Houston is thus said to be risk-takers.

NATURE OF INTRAPRENEURSHIP WITHIN METRO HOUSTON.
Intrapreneurship refers to the act of creating a new business venture within an already
existing company or firm (Parker, 2011). Thus, an intrapreneur is like a micro-entrepreneur
within an existing company. The new venture that the company then engages in sometimes
grows to become a new sector or department. The employees of Metro Houston have thus
identified new opportunities within the city for Metro that have led to its quick growth. The
significant recent intrapreneurship activity for Metro Houston is the installation of charged
lifts for tall buildings within Houston city.
The employees of Metro realized that there existed a market opportunity within the
tall buildings in Houston city. The central business offices and resource centers are often
located in these buildings, thus prompting people to visit these buildings regularly. Similarly,
the sky crappers occupy little space while they host a beehive of activities daily. However,
some of the employees at Metro Houston realized that people faced numerous challenges in
these buildings. The first major challenge was time wastage, as people had to climb the tall
buildings using staircases due to just a few lifts in the buildings (Parker, 2021).
The employees then decided that Metro could begin the installation of lifts in these
buildings freely after negotiations with the building owners. People hence pay to use the lifts
to save the time and energy they could have spent climbing the staircases or waiting for the
single free lift to reach their floor (Parker, 2021). This, in turn, helped to increase the revenue
for Metro by some percentage. This sector of Metro has since grown to become a department.
Metro hence promotes intrapreneurship and urges its employees to be innovative and develop
more new ideas that can help quench a market opportunity just like the opportunity that was
sported in the tall buildings.

INTRAPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITY WITHIN METRO HOUSTON.
Metro Houston is a public transport company that operates in Houston city in Texas.
Metro has hence invested in various aspects of public transport. Some of its investments are
in the form of public road transport by buses, regular trains, cargo transport, and public lifts
on the tall buildings in Houston (Metro, 2021). These investments have seen Metro through
tough times and have thus led to its dominance of the public transport industry in Houston.
However, Metro has various strengths and weaknesses that limit its operation. Similarly,
there are still multiple aspects of public transportation where Metro could materialize by
investing further. This is called intrapreneurship.
The market opportunity and effort and resource impacts of investing in electric trains.
There still exists a market gap in the public railway transport in Houston. This is
because there are no electric trains in Houston. Thus, Metro could lead by example or take
advantage of the market gap by investing in electric trains. For Metro to invest in electric
trains, they will first have to assess their financial capacity to purchase and maintain the trains
