A Neurotoxin is an organic compound that is poisonous to or disrupts the normal
functioning of the nervous system that is comprised of the central nervous system and the
peripheral nervous system (Spencer and Herbert 2000).
The central nervous system consists of the brain and the spinal cord and has the function of
regulating several body parts functions including locomotion, responsiveness, memory and
feelings and speech. While the peripheral nervous system comprises of all network of nerves
besides axons that branch outside of the brain and spinal cord to other body parts. Its function is
to relay messages between the central nervous system and the other body parts, such as a
communication that the hands are cold. Besides the system conveys signals from the brain and
spinal cord to the blood vessels, glands and muscles to generate actions like movement and blood
circulation (Eysenck 2012).
