I’m working on a Algebra exercise and need support.

Let R2 denote the set {(a, b) : a, b 2 R}. 

We define the operation : R2 x R2 > R2 by (a, b) + (c, d) = (a + c + 5, 2 · b · d)

1. Show that the operation + is associative or not.

2. Show that the operation + is commutative or not.
