Since I immigrated, I am experiencing lots of stress and challenges. If people ask me what is
the definition of immigration, I will say it means a lot of meanings that include, knowing the
rules of new country, be familiar with education system. Most people like me, after
immigration should start their life from zero. I started everything in my life from a very first.
Learning English, finding job, etc. When I came to USA, first I had to search and asking
about college and university. Most people said USA have better universities and colleges
than other countries, but it also is expensive. It took long time to understand how is the
education system. One of the most concern for me is the tuition. Thinking about the tuition
is first thing that effect on my decision. When I got the accepted letter from UCLA, being
happy and worry were the first emotions that I felt. I was thinking about how should I afford
the tuition. The scholarship is one of the most important and helpful aid that I can get it.
Without that I may not be able to attend to university. Even when I use other aid like FAFSA,
I still should be worry about the rest of tuition. Being qualify for scholarship help be to focus
on study and got the best grade. It also helps to avoid full time working. I got more time to
study instead of working.
Being more focus on study help to achieve my goals, and continue education after getting
the bachelor. I choose Iranian studies because I like to know more about my country,
specially how people see my country from outside. Reading more about history of Iran is
one of thing that I do in my free time. I always looking for more knowledge about it. I
voluntarily work in center and help senior people who comes from my countries, and they
don’t know how to work with technology. Doing this help me to feel useful for others.
