Executive Summary
Obtaining space for advertising whether it is in physical or virtual form-can pose
significant challenges in terms of money and legal issues. In other words, the resources and
effort necessary to market a business’ products can sometimes go overboard. The amount if
resources necessary is not always higher for physical advertising than for online one. Today,
most businesses use online platforms, for which the need of reaching consumers through
advertisements within the online environments is imperative. On the other hand, advertising a
product on one’s business page is insufficient, and many businesses use other sites to run their
advertisements for a particular price. While the prices for online advertising has been reducing in
the last years, most companies still have to engage in significant costs in order to market their
products online. Fortunately, an alternative solution exist-advertising through the social media.
The present document addresses to the marketing manager of the company and seeks to
demonstrate the effectiveness of an alternative approach to the current marketing strategies. This
approach consists of using social media as a space for advertising our products. Today, social
media has been greatly improved by people around the world, and platforms such as Facebook or
Twitter gain new subscribers each day. Recently, many social media platforms allow companies
to have a background cover (BC) for their respective profile pages. These background pages can
be used as a canvas for marketing, and our company should not refrain using them for this
purpose. As shown through various examples later in this document, using social media that
enjoys a high following can provide a better marketing option in terms of reachability and costs.

During the last decade, the power of advertising through social media has increased
significantly. The increased popularity of platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and
Facebook have allowed hundreds of companies to market their products in an innovative way

the main strengths that explain the success of this form of advertising is the possibility to
explicitly profile those who use a particular platform. More specifically, knowing the activity of
users, it is possible to determine their interests and some relevant demographic characteristics.
This allows companies to market products destined to specific groups more easily. More so,
