CHANGE MANAGEMENT PLAN

Introduction
Change is an important aspect of any organization’s life and a permanent change is one
very crucial aspect of managing human life as a resource and organizations at large. Sometimes
change involve a complete overhaul of the current state of an organization, its people and the
processes involved to the desired future is referred to as change management, it can as well
change in part of management or a departmental change in the manner they handle some
activities. Change management is essential because provides a platform for the employees and all
the stakeholders to appreciate the changes in the business environment. Importantly, change
management takes into account the challenges that might occur when executing changes. There
are different aspects of change that are, operational, technological and strategical. An
organization has the obligations to strategize in order to cope with the associated changes and the
challenges that may come with it. It is argued that a company is as best as its credibility is.
Credibility is cultivated by a firm's leadership structure. It is a product of discipline, focus, and
consistency of the highest caliber. Due to the nature of the business environment, sometimes
companies find themselves leading in the industry and other times having failed projects. The
latter is rather distressing and disturbing and needs urgent remedy. There, however, exists no
other better way to restore a company's glory than by the application of value-based leadership
skills. This has proven to be the best way to restore a fallen firm's dignity and motivate a credible
working environment both internally and externally. The paper will discuss change management
plan or strategies. Additionally, the paper will present examples of companies that have managed
their change successfully. Companies discussed are Coca-Cola Company and Ford motors. In the
uncertain political, social and economic environments, an organization has to be dynamic enough
to cope with the prevailing changes in marketing, production, and technology. Human beings

have a nature of resisting changes but all the environmental factors in business considered,
change is inevitable. The paper is therefore as well aimed at analyzing the impacts of change
management in an organization and a design of a change management plan which can promote
high performance in a work environment.
Reasons for adopting change
Organizations have to change periodically because; they need to respond to the everchanging business environment, they need to boost their performance, they need to respond to
customer's demands, they need to improve their effectiveness and efficiency, they need to boost
employees performance and they also need to the overall returns of their investments. Most
importantly, in the world business environment today, there are three main factors that will force
an organization to opt for change. The first one is technology. Technology is not only a boost in
the production efficiency and effectiveness; it is also an important aspect in the management of
employees and thereby enhancing performance. When business competitors keep updating their
technological advances, it becomes a challenge to the business that this forces them to always try
to all the time keep to the new technological innovations. The other reason for the change is the
economy. Depending on the prevailing economic conditions, organizations will make economic
changes that will ensure their sustainability and profitability. Importantly, change can as well be
pushed by the prevailing customers' demand. This will be arrived at according to the market
information on what the customers would prefer. The business will thereafter be forced to come
up with changes that will ensure they win new customers and at the same time retaining their
existing customers.

Importance of change management
Most managers are positive about change management. In an organizational perspective,
change management is important in that it lowers the risks of failing (Jeff and Creasey, 2003).
The benefit derived from a change strategy will depend on why the change was executed. If the
change that was executed was to escape tough economic times then the result that would be
realized business sustainability and profitability. There are, however, other changes that may
seem to hurt to the business at the beginning; however, that should not make the manager lose
focus on the targeted benefit from the change.
The change management process
Change management approaches, philosophies and theories have been developed by most
professional managers and psychologists. All these are geared towards developing a positive
change in an organization. In change management, there are three phases that are; preparation for
the change, managing the change and finally reinforcing the change. In preparation for the
change phase, assessing the capabilities of a change and development of strategies in line with
those capabilities is done. In the managing change phase, planning and implementation of
strategies designed in preparation phase are executed. During reinforcement, data from the
feedback is collected and analyzed. Gaps therein are determined, and corrective mechanisms are
implemented to seal up the effective change management process. With the fast changing...
