Write a perfect square trinomial equation in which the linear coefficient is negative and the constant term is a fraction.

x^2 - x + 1/4 = 0

(x - 1/2)(x -1/2) = 0

x = 1/2

explain why t2 + 22t + 121 = 246 cannot be solved by factoring and a description of the steps.

Re-written, t2 + 22t + 121 = 246 is

t^2 + 22t +121 - 246 = 0

= t^2 + 22t - 125 = 0

There are no factors of -125 which added together will equal the linear coefficient 22.

So, it cannot be solved by factoring.
