Description
Based on your research, what conclusions have you been able to draw related to your final presentation topic? Please describe your final presentation topic and the conclusions you have drawn from the literature you have researched. Are practice changes recommended for your current practice? Why or why not?
(I am thinking about presenting on easy information sharing among various platforms of the electronic health records (EHR)). Total 400 words. Guru, you actually helped me with this one last time a few days ago for module 2.
Assignment: Electronic Record-Keeping in Healthcare
For this week’s assignment, you will be taking an inventory of the information systems in your organization. To complete the assignment, you might need to contact other departments. Based on what you have learned so far in this course, create a 15-20 slide PowerPoint presentation that addresses each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Use clear headings that allow your professor to know which bullet you are addressing on the slides in your presentation. Support your content with at least three (3) scholarly citations using APA citations throughout your presentation. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the presentation. Include a slide for your references at the end. Follow best practices for PowerPoint presentations related to text size, color, images, effects, wordiness, and multimedia enhancements. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.
- Differentiate between electronic health record (EHR), electronic medical record (EMR), and personal health record (PHR)
- Differentiate between clinical information systems (CIS) and administrative information systems (AIS)
- What systems are currently being utilized at your organization?
- If you had to rate the information-technology status of your organization, what score would you give them?

The final presentation topic
The interest has been shown towards the adoption, and use of EHRs has grown
phenomenally over time. The EHRs capture different types of data that have been used for
different purposes. An Electronic health record is an electronic system used by healthcare
organizations to collect and store the patients' information over time (Alshehri & Raj, 2013).
These systems have been used across many organizations and hospitals to obtain information
from individuals. Different kinds of data obtained include the patients' demographic data, list
of problems, diagnoses, vital signs, and other patient variables. The core functionalities of the
EHR include obtaining the patients' information, ordering and management of results, clinical
decision-making support, exchange of health information, reporting of population health,
administrative support, and electronic communication.
A multidisciplinary team is involved in treating a single patient most of the time in the
hospitals (Asan & Montague, 2013). For instance, a patient can visit the emergency
department, the orthopedic ward, and the operating room. During all these visits, the
healthcare professionals need to view the patients' data and use it to reach diagnoses or
evaluate the patients' progress. With the adoption of Electronic health records by most
hospitals, data sharing between the healthcare members has been made easier than in the past
(Asan & Montague, 2013). The healthcare team can access the data without going to other
departments to look for a physical file of the patients’ data.
The latest federal requirements dictate that all data obtained by the Information
technology department and the EHRs must be sharable in a form known as the United States
Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) (Evans, 2016). This data includes the demographic
information and the essential details such as the immunizations, allergies, laboratory tests,
and the medications that the patient is receiving (Evans, 2016). This data should be available
and be ready for sharing with other physicians and healthcare workers in other hospitals

where the patient may receive care. This way, the time for procuring the patients' data when
they visit new hospitals is significantly reduced. Therefore, the patients can receive care in
time, and inconclusive data is not used. The services given to the patients are of high quality,
and an appropriate course of treatment is followed.
Apart from making the process of sharing data more accessible, the in...
