Former President Richard Nixon was born in a farm house in Yorba Linda, California in the year
1913.
Domestic policies
Nixon won the republican nominations for president in 1968 by putting together the
coalition that included southern conservatives. In exchange of the south support he promised that
he would appoint strict constructionalists to the federal judiciary. In the year 1973, President
Nixon ended the draft, moving the United States to an all volunteer force. The military had a
purpose to work very hard to achieve their goals. Another achievement is that He founded the
environmental protection agency in 1970 as a response to the rising concern over conservation
and pollution. The former president of the United States dedicated $100-million to start a war on
the killing disease, cancer. This campaign lead to the creation of cancer centres and antidotes that
helps in fighting of the deadly disease.
Nixon opened the doors for women in collegiate sports when he signed title IX in the
year 1972. It included a civil right law that prevented gender biasness at colleges and universities
that receives federal aid. Another accomplishment is that he initiated and oversaw the peaceful
integration of the southern schools. He also welcomed astronauts safely from the moon.
