What is marriage therapy ◦ Marriage counseling, also called couples therapy, is a type of psychotherapy. Effective therapy will likely address many aspects of the relationship, although communication tends to be the primary focus of relationship therapy. c. Knowing good result for marriage therapy i. Choosing your counselor is the biggest decision you do not just want to go MARRIAGE THERAPY 3 to the first therapist you see. You would want to look at the success rates if you are really willing to save your marriage. ii. When partners repeatedly employ conflict avoidance or engage in heated power struggles, communication problems ensue; resentment builds, and repairs are never made, having a therapists can help communication. III.Conclusion i. Successful therapy depends on each spouse motivation and commitment to the process. Couples can expect to become better listeners and communicators and to find new ways to support and assist one another. Goals will be established by the couple under the guidance of the therapist, and in order to achieve these objectives, each partner must be prepared to acknowledge and understand his or her role in the relationship. It is not uncommon for conflict to arise within therapy sessions, but ethical therapist will strive to remain neutral and avoid taking sides.
