Policy Making
Politicians primarily guide the process of policy-making, which presents a problem in the
criminal justice system. The core issue is that many people who create policies have no
background to guide them on the most effective policies. The scientific understanding of the
effects of the policies is minimal, and the political consequences guide most understanding.
There needs to be more integration of professionals in creating policies guiding the criminal
justice system. All new policies should also be guided by evidence-based research to help
increase the number of reformed people.
Police Use of Force
The number of cases where police officers are accused of using excessive force has
increased. The backlash has resulted in several recommendations, including reducing the funding
that the police department gets. Reducing resources to police departments would negatively
affect society (Baker & Fidalgo, 2020). The most reasonable step to take would be to improve
the training process for the police officers and change their equipment to make non-lethal

communities that they serve.

bias in the number of people locked up. However, the most notable issue is the inability to help
people reform. Increasing alternatives is critical as it can help make the whole criminal justice
system more sustainable. One alternative would be to model correctional facilities to become

Social justice is a concept that forms the foundation of the American constitution, but the
implementation is not very clear. The idea that all people deserve equality in life’s political,
social, and economic aspects is not effectively implemented. The need to have systems that
promote social justice is critical to helping reduce the disparity witnessed in the criminal justice
system (Reddington & Bonham, 2019). Those considerations consider the education and work
opportunities that people get and the impact of race on such factors. The government should also
invest money in correcting past injustices and prevent reoccurrence of the same.
Juvenile Justice
Juvenile crime cases have been increasing in recent decades at a very high rate. Juveniles
present a unique situation as they have many years to live and an opportunity to reform. The
need to have an effective system for reforming young people cannot be overstated, which is
critical across all the states. More resources should be placed towards helping increase the
rehabilitation process for these young people and increase their skills while in jail. Taking up
educational programs in schools could also help prevent increas...
