The perimeter of a rectangle is 90 ft. Find the dimensions of the rectangle if the ratio of the length to the width is 8: 7. What would be the best equation to use to solve this problem?

let the constant be x

so, length = 8x and width = 7x
so, perimeter = 2(length+ width)
90=2 (8x+7x)
45 = 15x
x = 45/15 = 3

length = 8x = 24 ft
width = 7x = 21 ft
