Genetically modified crop or animals are organisms that are genetically altered to make
sure that superior offspring or results are achieved. In plants, genetic modification is done to
make sure that a certain trait is either introduced or removed to make the plant resistant to pests
and diseases. Those plants that have traits that are pest resistance are important as it allows them
to resist pests hence less pesticide-input is needed by the farmer. This lowers the input cost hence
increasing output. GMOs that are drought resistant also needs less water which means that they
preserve resources like water which the other plants need (Traavik & Ching, 2017). There are
also plants that are herbicide resistant which means that they will allow the farmers to use no-till
methods which are beneficial as they allow preservation of soil that could have been lost through
soil erosion. Topsoil is also preserved and carbon emission is prevented by non-till methods of
farming. There are some plants that have been modified to resist diseases and an example of this
