WCU Chemistry Titration Presentation
The goal of your Signature Assignment is to show that you can compute properties of solutions and analyze and interpret data. You will create a PowerPoint presentation that shows the process of going through an acid/base titration like you would if you were in a physical lab.For the presentation:You will prepare a sample of an unknown acid to titrate using a known concentration of base. You will set-up a burette filled with a known concentration of base and use proper titration techniques to reach an end-point to the titration. You will then calculate the concentration of the unknown acid on your own.For Part I:Create a PowerPoint presentation (4-6 slides) that covers the lab scenario above.Include your thoughts on why understanding acid/base titration is important to your future career, and how you will use this concept as you complete your degree.Your presentation must consist of more than merely a series of bullet points to earn full credit.Use the Notes section for each slide to fully explain your answers. This assignment should be in current APA Style with both a title slide and a reference list that includes all of the sources used. At least two scholarly sources should be used (your textbook can be one of the sources).See rubric for specific grading criteria. This lab assignment presentation involves putting together a presentation to show other students on how to perform titration. In other words, your presentation can be used to show other students (next term) how they can perform a titration by following your instructions and calculations. To do this presentation, we are giving you the type of acid, acetic acid, the type of base, NaOH to be used, and you will use phenolphthalein as the indicator. You will use the data given to you to be used as an example of how to solve the mathematical calculations. At the end of your presentation, you will show the unknown concentration of the acetic acid (Molarity) and will also show the % mass/ vol of the Vinegar solution. Part 1Purpose of a titration, what is titration and why do we perform a titration?Instrumentation- what are the instruments, glassware used when performing a titration.Chemicals and Procedures. What chemicals are needed? List and explain the procedures for this experiment.Observations and expectations- List the observations and write your expectations. This might include color change and when the equivalence point (endpoint) might be reached.Part 2Calculations and Results. Show all your calculations and write your results, the Molarity of the acetic and the % of the acetic acid.Your instructor will provide guidance and examples for completing calculations for titration. This assignment should be in current APA Style with both a title slide and a reference list that includes all the sources used. At least two scholarly sources should be used (your textbook can be one of the sources).

College of San Mateo Chapter 11 Sports Nutrition Paper
Chapter 11 Sports NutritionTopic 1The Gatorade Sports Science Institute publishes reports (not actual research articles) regarding research focused on nutrition and athletic outcomes. Keep in mind that these articles are not acceptable for your vitamin and mineral reports. I am not thrilled about the biased nature of this research but I want you to critically evaluate the studies in this section. Your assignment is to go to their website and find an article related to nutrition and athletic performance http://www.gssiweb.org/en/publications/all (Links to an external site.) Search Sports Science Exchange for possible topics or select the Sports Nutrition option and pick a topic. Report back to the class what you learned from your article including:What was being researched, how was the study designed, how many people participated in the study and what were the results of the study? You might also want to comment on limitations to the study and other thoughts you might have about what you read. Some of the reports will look at multiple studies and you can comment on that, as well.Make sure that you compare what you read in the report to what you have read in class or at another website. Lastly, comment on how this information might cause you to change the way that you are eating or what you might recommend to your friends who are athletes.Topic 2Interval or High Intensity training is being used to improve sports performance, improve body composition and maximize weight loss and fitness. Read the links below and then answer the following questions.http://www.metaboliceffect.com/hormonal-weight-loss/ (Links to an external site.)http://www.metaboliceffect.com/3-muscle-hormones-that-drive-the-metabolic-effect (Links to an external site.)/ (Links to an external site.)1. 1. What is hormonal weight loss? What hormones are involved?2 2. Compare and contrast high intensity exercise interval training with the traditional low intensity exercise recommendations. 3. What is EPOC? How does it affect the “Calorie burn”? 4. Do you have any experience with this type of exercise? Do you think you would recommend it for someone who is trying to lose weight?
