Southern New Hampshire University Social Depression Among Adolescents Paper
Once you graduate and obtain your first job out of your Master of Social Work program, you may be asked to identify the gaps in services at your new agency. You may be asked to create a new group or help to identify a new evidence-based intervention that can be introduced to the clients. Understanding how to research the current literature, and then choose and evaluate an intervention, is an important component of being a successful social worker. For this course, you have researched new and interesting interventions that are currently being used with children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Further, you have explored the importance of connecting theory to practice. For this Assignment, use will practice steps in Evidence-Based Practice. 1) You will think of a practice problem. 2) You then conduct a literature review on available research. 3) You will evaluate the evidence to determine which intervention to use. 4) You will consider client values and your clinical expertise. 5) You will think about what you hope the client gains from this intervention (i.e., decreased depression, increased quality of life, decreased PTSD symptoms) and consider how you might measure this change. To prepare:Choose a population of interest to you.ChildrenAdolescentsAdultsElderly/AgingChoose a presenting problem (depression, family conflict, homelessness, etc.) related to the population of interest.Conduct a literature review focused on the presenting problem within the population of interest.Submit an 8- to 10-page scholarly paper supported with a minimum of six peer-reviewed articles as references. In the paper, you should:Briefly describe the population and presenting problem you are focusing on for this assignment.Provide a review of the articles you reviewed from this project and explain what you learned from conducting this research.Briefly describe at least 2 evidence-based interventions currently used for your chosen population when addressing this particular problem. Provide supporting references when explaining the evidence behind the interventions.Explain which of these interventions you might choose to use and why.Consider client values and your clinical expertise and how those might affect your decision of which intervention to use.Describe how you might apply the specific skills and techniques of the chosen intervention.Briefly explain how you could measure the outcomes of this intervention.Explain any cultural considerations that you need to take into account when working with this population or the particular presenting problem.Discuss how the Code of Ethics applies when working with this particular presenting problem and population.Explain how you would apply a trauma-informed lens when working with this population.Support your Final Project with specific references to the resources. Case Study and Developing a Treatment Plan. Must be original work with no plagiarism!!!! Please make sure and follow the grading rubric and answer each question to its entirety. My e-textbook with reference is attached. This paper must have in-text citations and sources that I can look up online for free. Paper includes reference to the textbook and four other sources utilized. Your Assignment will be a 7-10 page paper providing you an opportunity to integrate several of the concepts covered in this class. As you read the text and respond to the assignment questions, keep these concepts in mind. Again, used the grading rubric below as a guide. Read the case study (BELOW). Begin your paper with a brief overview of at least three of the concepts covered in the course (use textbook attached). Include these concepts as you address the following: Evaluate how specific models of health psychology apply to the client in this scenario. Explain in your own words the systemic process that contributes to your client’s healthy or unhealthy habits. Evaluate the mind-body connection between your client and her health.Make a list of at least five of your client’s needs, prioritizing them, and develop a plan for meeting these needs. Include two specific actions through which you could become an agent of change to meet the culturally based aspects identified in the above section.Using the client’s needs and plan identified above, create a treatment plan for your client. A treatment plan typically includes a diagnosis of the problem based on the client's history, treatment goals (these should be SMART goals), and steps the client will take in order to achieve the treatment goals. Make sure your plan is specific, measurable, and achievable and that it contains timeframes for the goals to be achieved.Explain your rationale for the treatment recommendations in the treatment plan, ensuring that your explanation is thorough enough to demonstrate sound reason. Case Scenario: Case Study Juanita is a middle-aged Hispanic female. She goes to her doctor because she is having severe, frequent headaches, heart racing, chest pain and dizziness/balance problems. Juanita has a long history of other health issues that her doctor has not been able to explain from a physical point of view. She has also had frequent accidents, falls, etc. Juanita's doctor has decided that it is time for her to have a complete physical. Her doctor asks her if there is anything else he should know. Juanita tells her doctor that all is fine. Juanita's doctor is aware that about 8 years ago, Juanita attended and successfully completed an inpatient rehab for alcohol use. Sensing that Juanita might be resistant to opening up with him, her doctor asks her how her recovery is progressing. The doctor wonders if Juanita is eating okay and exercising, since she has lost a lot of weight. Juanita finally tells her doctor that her job is on the line, her youngest child is about to leave home, and she feels depressed. Juanita admits that, as a result of her personal problems, about six weeks ago, she relapsed with alcohol and has been drinking regularly since then. The doctor suspects possible anxiety related problems or panic attacks but is puzzled by the balance problems. He examines her inner ear and finds that her eardrum has been ruptured. However, when inquiring about ear infections, Juanita reports nothing of that nature recently. He tells Juanita that the next logical explanation is head trauma and that based on the numerous unexplained injuries he expects physical abuse. Reluctantly she admits that there is physical violence in her marriage. The doctor states that he knows that there is a major problem with the relapse, and she needs help; she also needs treatment for the domestic violence. The doctor makes an appointment at the local Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, which specializes in trauma informed care. Juanita agrees to keep the appointment; however, the doctor is concerned that Juanita may not go. Effects Of The Internet On Current Generation Argumentative Essay
Introduce the topic of the essay. “Are new Generations Smarter Due to Internet Changes?”Background according to history and topicality (recent relevance) should be established.Add a fairly recent topical story from a newspaper, magazine, or radio transcript to show recent interest in your issue and its vitality. Use a rhetorical tool, or several, to draw interest in the topic, possibly through a question, scenario, anecdote, series of facts, numbers, authoritative testimony, examples, or metaphors.State a thesis on the ambivalently viewed issue that clearly states a logically biased perspective on the SIRS topic, stating the major reasons for bias (drawn from the subtopics in the body). This can be tacked onto the reporting thesis. III (-VI?) Carefully analyze subtopics from each perspective in a compare-and-contrast format that touches one subtopic at a time (such as ethics, economics, types of effects, and so on). Define key terms.Describe varying categories.Present reasons and consequences for each side’s position.Clarify any moral or technical dilemmas. VII.Bridge into your own analysis of the logical fallacies in the opposition’s position. Note overstatements and any poor logic or preposterously used scenarios.Note cloudy moral stances or clear violations of general ethics. VIII. Restate the clearer position of the side that you advocate, admitting flaws but showing clear reasons for preference over the alternative. IX.Conclude with an honestly biased summary of why one position is more favorable. The essay should be five page long and use logical fallacies (straw man) for the argument. Also use MLA citation to write the paper. You should cite at least ten source.
