Workplace Incivility
Several issues get experienced at the workplace, which affects productivity. One of these
issues entails workplace incivility, which shows rude behaviors that affect a specific group. In
most organizations, certain people endue mistreatment from their colleagues. Workplace
incivility shows a disregard for particular people, thereby treating them with contempt. This
paper aims at analyzing different research works that elaborate on workplace incivility. The
paper will evaluate factors that lead to workplace incivility to broaden our understanding.
Additionally, examining the influence of sex and race in work mistreatment. The paper will also
review the effects of the abuse and how selective incivility gets used to discriminate against
specific individuals. Lastly, it is essential to analyze the role of leadership in the workplace
regarding incivility. Therefore, this research will grant a broad understanding of the topic.
Literature Review
As mentioned in the introduction, workplace incivility is rude behavior directed towards
certain people. According to Han et al. (2021), most researchers have been dedicated to
researching the various factors that lead to workplace incivility. Additionally, a more significant
percentage of people have encountered such mistreatment in the workplace, making it an
exciting topic to research. Examples of the mistreatment involve demeaning another person,
ignoring people, failing to recognize other people's efforts and interrupting people (Han et al.,
2021). Individual status, gender, race and age are some contributing factors to experiencing
workplace incivility (Han et al., 2021). For instance, people with higher status tend to
discriminate against those at lower levels, thereby mistreating them.
Han et al. (2021) also show the possibility of low performance in causing workplace
incivility. People with low performance at the workplace get targeted and mistreated by those

with higher levels. The article focused on several aspects related to the matter, thereby
developing essential facts. Additionally, through the research, one can distinguish the different
