Moments of crisis are normally experienced by almost everybody. However, these crisis
times are not constant in their effects but most important is that they are all crisis. All moments
of crisis are characterized by fear of loss, threats and the crisis occur unexpectedly. No one
expects that a crisis will happen at a particular time. This calls for the need of various approaches
aimed at helping in the moments of crisis (Kanel & Mallers, 2015). Different approaches have
been invented. Approaches that involves following a brief therapy model tend to be more
effective. This model emphasizes on the separation of a crisis event from other matters to help
come up with potential measures to eradicate the crisis.
The ABC model, is a simple crisis mitigation model (Kanel, 2012). It is a tool used by
counsellors when counselling their patients. Other crisis intervention models apply the three
steps in ABC model. These steps include;
